WHY WE’RE FLAGGING THE ‘CALORIE CREEP’

Healthy Hearts are raising awareness around counting calories in support of the new national ‘One You’ campaign.

 

Earlier this month you’re likely to have heard across the media that Britain needs to go on a diet, and lots of talk around calories. The new reports have mentioned that one of the main reasons for the UK’s increasing obesity crisis is that people are overeating every day, with many of the foods that are high in calories being consumed when people are on the go.

The new campaign encourages adults to make healthier choices while out and about. Adults consume around a quarter (20-25%) of their calories from eating out, with many unsure how many calories they need each day.

Here’s how we’re helping you to stop the calorie creep and how you can get involved.

WHAT IS THE ONE YOU CAMPAIGN ABOUT?
This campaign is based around adult nutrition. We’re looking at ways to encourage mindfulness around the food choices we make while we’re on the go.

HOW CAN YOU USE THE GUIDE TO MAKE HEALTHY FOOD CHOICES?

We are continuing to share our message around choosing to eat nutrient-dense meals and snacks. Expect to see lots of healthy and delicious tips.

We’ve designed resources to help you make healthier choices. Resources that will be released throughout the campaign include:

  • Healthy recipes

  • Our Health Coaches will share what they typically eat in a day
  • A week-long meal plan
